The Gathering is a spectacular, year-long celebration of all things Irish! Ireland will open its arms to hundreds of thousands of friends and family from all over the world, calling them home to gatherings in villages, towns and cities.
This adventure will cover parts of Dublin, Galway with the bulk of the tour in Connemara and will incorporate some of the following: history of Ireland, castles, festivals, gardens, wellness, walking, safari, ferry rides and scenic explorations;
Includes daily breakfast, 5 evening meals, entrance fees to various outings and ground transportation;
A lot of walking will be required.
Sample Day to Day Outlook
Day 1 (Saturday)
AM: Fly into Shannon airport (from JFK) early morning. Meet your guide who will welcome you to the Emerald Isle and run through the exciting itinerary for the week ahead. Travel to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park for tour.
PM: Travel to Limerick City for tour of Frank McCourt Museum and Limerick. Dinner. Accomodations are at a 4 Star hotel. Sample a Guinness before retiring!
Day 2 (Sunday)
AM: Travel to Connemara
Visit to Brigits Garden
Lunch at Brigits Garden
PM: Travel to Rossaveal port, ferry trip to Aran Islands. Accommodation tonight is at a lovely guesthouse. Dinner is at a venue of your choice tonight, and can be followed by a visit to one of Kilronans lively pubs.
Day 3 (Monday)
AM: Aran Islands then catch the ferry back to Rossaveal.
Travel through scenic Connemara.
Along the way there are several locations where peat is dug for fuel.
Tour & tasting at Connemara smokehouse in Ballyconnelly.
Scenic tour of the legendary Sky Road outside Clifden.
Accommodations and dinners for the next three nights are at a 3 star hotel in the center of the town.
Day 4 (Tuesday)
AM and PM Guided bike tour around scenic Clifden and surrounds the Bog Road and in the afternoon to the tidal Omey Island. Continue genealogical research. Packed Lunch. Dinner is at a venue of your choice in Clifden. Afterwards enjoy a traditional musical evening in one of the many lively pubs in town.
Day 5 (Wednesday)
Free Connemara Day to explore and relax in the region.
Hopefully a local festival on in the surrounds to experience too!
Dinner is a 3 star hotel.
Day 6 (Thursday)
AM: Guided history, heritage, landscape, folklore and mythology safari. Guided botanical and landscape walk in Connemara National Park. Visit to Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden.
Travel through the very majestically scenic north Connemara.
The next two nights accommodation and dinner are provided at a luxurious 4 star resort.
Day 7 (Friday)
AM & PM: Full day at the resort with 2 sessions to choose various activities from: spa wellness, walking, adventure, mountain biking, angling, etc. After dinner, feel free to visit the pubs in Leenane to experience some traditional music and storytelling of Irish folklore & legends!
Day 8 (Saturday)
AM: Travel to the 1000 year Christian city of Dublin. Fully guided Dublin City-Viking sightseeing tour.
Depart for airport for your flight home.
