Travel tips

  • Make photocopies of your passport before you depart for an international trip

  • Before traveling abroad, contact your phone carrier regarding international rates for texting, roaming and incoming and outgoing calls

  • Use your debit card or credit card instead of travelers checks - this is more convenient and avoids the fees that currency companies add on

  • Try to pack light so you will not be subject to baggage fees

  • Check with the airline that you are traveling on to see how many bags they allow at no costs and inquire on the fees for additional bags

  • If you requested a special (vegetarian, kosher, gluten free) air flight meal, confirm with the airline or your travel agent at least 24 hrs prior to your departure that they airline have a record of your special meal request.

  • When traveling abroad, to get a feel for the local food, eat at nearby restaurants and stay away from American chain restaurants

  • Before traveling abroad, check with the U.S. State Department to see if there are any travel warnings in the country where you are visiting. See the attached link:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html
