Travel tips

  • Confirm to see if there are any travel related restrictions prior to booking your trip.  Will you need to be tested for COVID19 before you arrive at your destination?  Will you need to be tested for COVID19 upon arrival?  Will you need to quarantine upon arrival? Will you need to have proof of coronavirus vaccine prior to arrival?

  • Make photocopies of your passport before you depart for an international trip​.

  • Before traveling abroad, contact your phone carrier regarding international rates for texting, roaming and incoming and outgoing calls.

  • Use your debit card or credit card instead of travelers checks - this is more convenient and avoids the fees that currency companies add on.

  • Contact your credit card company to see if they charge foreign transaction fees.  If your credit card company does NOT charge any foreign transaction fees, use that card when you are traveling abroad.

  • If you plan to use your credit card or bank card while traveling abroad, contact your credit card companies and bank card companies before you travel to inform them that you will be traveling abroad and when and what countries you will be visiting.  If you do not contact these companies before you travel, you may not be able to use your card when you are travel as your credit card and/or bank card companies could think that your card[s] are being fraudulently used.

  • Try to pack light so you will not be subject to baggage fees.

  • Check with the airline that you are traveling on to see how many bags they allow and inquire on the fees for any additional bags.

  • If you requested a special (vegetarian, kosher, gluten free) air flight meal, confirm with the airline or your travel agent at least 24 hrs prior to your departure that they airline have a record of your special meal request.

  • ​When traveling abroad, to get a feel for the local food, eat at nearby restaurants and stay away from American chain restaurants.

  • Before traveling abroad, check with the U.S. State Department to see if there are any travel warnings in the country where you are visiting. See the attached link: ​
